Fordingbridge English Country Dancing

A fun way to exercise and meet new people at this friendly group. The dances are walked through before we try them to music; the dances are always called so you don’t have to learn them off by heart. Why not come along and give it a try?

Cost: £3 on a pay-as-you-go basis or prepay £10 for 4 weeks. Price includes a cup of tea or coffee and sometimes a chocolate biscuit.

We meet at Godshill Village Hall on Thursdays from 7.30 to 9.30 pm.

Godshill Table-Tennis group

Meets at Godshill Village Hall, on Monday evenings 7.00 – 9.00.  With ongoing refreshments provided at a very small charge. The entry fee for the evening, to include everything, except the refreshments, is £2. Tables, bats and balls are all provided, and there are three tables. Participants are asked to turn up in soft shoes, like trainers. Hard soled and outdoor shoes could damage and scratch the floor, and would probably not be safe.

Godshill WI

Godshill WI was formed in 1925. It was suspended during World War 2 and resumed again in July 1948.
We are members of the Fordingbridge Group of WIs which includes the WIs of Avon (in Fordingbridge) Hyde and Frogham, Martin and Damerham, Sandleheath and Woodgreen.  We join these for some larger meetings and events during the year, including Quiz and Skittle Competitions, a Carol Service and taking part in the annual Fordingbridge Festival on the town’s recreation ground.  Ringwood Group join us on a number of occasions.

We keep in touch with and attend County Federation events, every member receiving their monthly newsletter. A coach is organised to take the group twice a year to the Federation Meetings at Portsmouth Guildhall and The Anvil in Basingstoke, where the speakers were Peter and Dan Snow.  We play our part in the WI Tent at the annual New Forest Show held in Brockenhurst.

In 2015 the WI celebrated 100 Years since its formation in this country. Godshill WI took part in the countrywide Baton Relay, members attended the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace and the AGM at the Royal Albert Hall held in the presence HM the Queen. This was screened live in the Town Hall for all Group members to see. The theme for the Patronal Festival at St Mary’s Parish Church was ‘100 Years of the WI and Agriculture,’ our displays and demonstrations were well received. On the actual birthday of the WI Godshill WI invited all village ladies to our Garden Party, but because of the weather it was held in the village hall.

As part of their subscription every member receives a copy of the National Federation magazine ‘WI Life.’
We meet on the first Wednesday of the month, in the village hall at 2.15pm.  Do come along, as a welcome visitor, and you’ll enjoy a relaxing afternoon, in friendly company, listening to an interesting speaker and indulging in a delicious tea.
